Trisha Krishnan was born on 4 May 1983 in Palakkad, Kerala, India and raised in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She is an Indian film actress and model, widely regarded as the “Queen of South India” and one of the highest-paid actresses in South Indian cinema with a career spanning over two decades. She began her journey by winning the Miss Chennai (1999) beauty pageant, which opened the doors to the film industry. She made her acting debut with a small supporting role in the Tamil film Jodi (1999) and had her first lead role in Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002), directed by Ameer Sultan opposite Suriya, winning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
She rose to massive fame with blockbuster films Saamy (2003), Ghilli (2004), and Varsham (2004), earning her first South Filmfare Best Actress Award. She has also starred in acclaimed films including Abhiyum Naanum (2008), Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), 96 (2018), and Ponniyin Selvan: Part I & II (2022–2023).
